Welcome Spring!

What better way to celebrate the 1st day of spring than a family picnic and hike! On Saturday, we headed to George Washington National Forest to a new hiking spot. It was supposed to be a moderate hike but we were not so sure once we saw it. It actually was a bit scary.  It was very rocky and the trail had steep drop offs the whole way up.  I kept thinking maybe this wasn't such a good trail for a baby and I couldn't believe it when I saw a man with 2 small boys hiking up it on our way down.  However, the views from the top were breathtaking! It also was fun to leave since we were going downhill :-) We usually hike to see a waterfall but that means when you leave you are hiking up!

Jack did really well.  He seems to enjoy being out in nature and that makes us very happy! Unfortunately, by the time he saw everything he wanted to see we were almost back to the bottom and he was asleep. We then got a chance to enjoy the nearby river while he napped.

Jack and I also have been seeing signs of Spring on our walks.  We think Spring is here to stay but we keep hearing rumors of another big snow storm.  I think it better stay away...I already put the shovel in storage!

Sporting his new shades!

A mover and a shaker!

Innocently sitting

Then I break out the camera and this is what happens...

I think he is quite happy with himself! Seth said it looks like he is snapping his fingers :-)

Jack also rolled over for the 1st time! He looked very surprised that all of his squirming would land him on his back! Seth and I both saw him do it so that made it all the more special.

Thankfully, he has some down time to!

4 Months!

On Friday Jack turned 4 months old!  He is definitely growing. He weighs 14lbs. 8oz. and is 26" long. He is really finding his voice (I'm not sure but I think Audree had a part in that!) and loves to just jabber away! In the car the other day Seth and I just had to smile because he was "singing" an adorable song to himself :-)

We moved him downstairs to his crib and now he has lots of room to spread out. Maybe too much room. I actually keep finding him with his head smashed against the side!  He also is taking more predictable naps now but still likes to wake up in the night a couple of times. I have decided he will sleep through the night when he is ready and I just need to relax about it :)

He is drooling a LOT but there are no teeth yet. If he doesn't follow in his Dad's footsteps in this area that will be fine by me!  He really enjoys being outside and we would really love it if this spring weather is here to stay.  Taking walks as a family of 3 has been a precious time!

I am on the lookout for more absorbant bibs!
Something is going on in that mouth!
His Dad couldn't help himself! What do you think Granddad and Grammy?!
Naptime
He gets lots of compliments on this sweater. Thanks Gammy!
He is so happy to be 4 months!

A Fun Family Weekend!

My Mom, Kari and Audree arrived Friday evening and were able to stay until Tuesday morning.  We had a jam packed weekend full of laughter, baby babbles, crafting and thrift store shopping! The weather was absolutely beautiful and we were able to take several walks with the babies.
We even enjoyed a photo shoot in the gazebo!

Gammy cherished every moment she had with both grandchildren. At times it was hectic juggling 2 babies that are 5 months apart in age! However, Gammy took it all in stride and was eager to help in any way she could. She even watched the munchkins while Kari and I shopped for a couple of hours. Thanks again Mom!
On Monday, we visited one of our favorite places...the Tea House!  We didn't think it was quite a baby outing so, Seth stayed home with them while they napped (he is such a good sport!). We always have a great time reminiscing and having Mother-Daughter-Daughter time!
Kari needed to keep her cheese scone warm! We act like ladies...most of the time! :-)
Audree and Jack entertained each other! Audree can sit by herself, eat food and bounce in her jumper.  Jack would just watch her and soak it all in. My mom even got him to sit on his own a couple of times! I think these two will share lots of fun times together and I can hardly wait to see how they will interact during our summer beach trip!

It was such fun having you here and we are already looking forward to the next time we see you!
