1st Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day was amazing!  Just being able to celebrate this holiday is enough of a gift  but we also did a fun overnight trip on top of that!  We decided it was time to make the switch from a PC to an Apple (it is going to be delivered this week!) and we wanted to view the laptops in person.  So, an impromptu visit to the DC area allowed us to go to not one but two Apple stores!  We got our questions answered and made our decisions and then spent the rest of the time shopping, trying out a new-to-us restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory (yummy!) and hanging out at the hotel.  We had a great weekend as a family and Jack did surprisingly well sleeping in a new place.  I didn't pull my camera out much but we did get some Mother's Day pictures.

"Oh Jack!  No working while we are on vacation!"
Thanks for taking a break, buddy!
My favorite guys!

Jack and I are headed to NY to visit my family for a couple of weeks!  Audree is turning one and we want to be there for the big event! I will try to update when I can...

1/2 Year Birthday!

Jack at 6 months.  He wanted to eat the star!

Jack is officially 1/2 of a year old!  We took him for his 6 month appointment today.  He is right on target developmentally.  It was the first time he didn't cry in the doctor's office.  He even laughed when the nurse rubbed her hands together to get them warm :-)  So, as it turns out I unintentionally lied in his 5 month post about his weight.  Oops!  Our scale seems to be off (which is good for me!) and he weighs 15lbs. right now.  He is 26 1/4 in. long so he is still long and skinny!  He also is quite active and the doctor kept asking him why he likes to do kung-fu so much!  :-)

Jack has also started some solid foods!  We gave him some banana and then some avocado and he loved them both!  He is also working on drinking water from his sippy cup that some friends gave us.  This new food adventure sure is fun to watch!

This is a neat little net that you just dump food in and he sucks on it!

Yum!

The best news is that Jack has decided that sleeping through the night is a great idea!  He is still working on his teeth so I expect that may disturb him at night at some point.  But for the most part he is turning into a great sleeper!

Laughing at his Dad!

Little Helper

This morning we needed to wash diapers and Jack came into the laundry room with me for a lesson.  I don't think he was listening but he was pretty happy just sitting there watching!

Cute load of laundry!

It seems that Jack may be a "Trekkie" like his Grandpa!  Interesting!

Jack practiced his sitting until...

the computer screen-saver distracted him!

He had some tummy time and then...

it was time for a nap!

Farmer's Market

Last Saturday we took a little trip to our local farmer's market.  We had a great time checking out all the in-season produce.  It is such a fun experience to visit with the farmers and sample what they have to offer.  We enjoyed a cup of fresh, hand roasted coffee while we strolled around and purchased some local beeswax and fresh green lettuce.  We can't wait for another free Saturday so we can go again...strawberries will be ready soon!

Strolling downtown

In between errands we took a break in the car.  I'm afraid Jack already thinks he knows how to drive! :-)

Backing up!

"Piece of cake, Mom!"
