Frugal Shopping

Jenny over at CJ and Family inspired me to share my latest Rite Aid trip with you.  Last month I earned a $20 Up reward for buying $100 worth of participating products.  We figured I only actually spent a quarter (if that!) of the $100 because I combined coupons with the sales and applied for rebates!  I needed to use it by the end of this month in one transaction so this week looked like the best deals for what we needed.  Here is what we got...

*2 boxes of Glad trash bags
*2 boxes of Band-aids
*2 Neosporin To Go
*2 boxes of Ziploc
*2 packages of pantyhose
*1 box of Puffs tissues
*Revlon eyelash curler
*Revlon nail clippers
*Little Noses saline spray
*Lypsyl chapstick
*M&M's Pretzel
*2 Reeses (not pictured) for filler so I could use one of my UP's

Total: $42.28  (I don't even want to think about what it would have been before sale prices!)

I only paid $4.45 after coupons and UP rewards and got back $6 to use on my next trip plus I submitted for $2 in rebates!
Thank you Rite Aid!

Also, while my Mom was here we received our huge order of tuna!  Amazon had a great deal and my stocking-up, preparedness-loving husband said we needed 3 cases!  I am still trying to figure out the best place to store them but until then Jack is having lots of fun.  His favorite toys stack (blocks, legos, ring stacker, etc.)  so that is what he has been doing!

Such concentration!

I think he is pleased, don't you?!

"Thanks for buying me these fun toys, Mom!"

Another day of fun!
That little kid's chair was purchased by my Mom for Jack...$5 at the thrift store!
It is turned around because he quickly figured out how to climb on and stand up on it, ugh!

Isn't frugal shopping fun?!
Oh by the way, does anyone have any yummy tuna recipes? :-)

Fun with my Mom

The title says it all...we had a great time with my Mom!  She got to come for 10 days and sadly the first few she spent in bed with a nasty sinus cold.  I had her try some different homeopathic and herbal remedies and thankfully it didn't turn into an infection (she was very impressed!).

The rest of the time was spent entertaining Jack (or he entertaining us!), shopping, trying new recipes, visiting the Tea House and new cupcake shop, sewing and card making!  Jack loved having all of the attention and really misses his Gammy now :-(  He seemed to grow and change while she was here.  He walked more on his own and used his signs and words more too.  She thinks he will be running when she sees him again in about 10 weeks!

Here are a few pictures from her visit...

"Helping" his Grandma unpack!

One day Jack walked out of his room looking like this!

It didn't last very long!

Ready for lunch after church

"Wow Gammy...you are amazing!"

Getting into things...nothing unusual.

Playing with my Mom's IPod or IPad was top priority for Jack!

Here is what we made...a camera strap cover!
My Mom whipped it up in a matter of minutes and I love how uniquely mine it is now!

Mom boarding the plane

We loved having you here and we didn't want to see you go.
Come again soon, please!

Jack is a Big Kid

We finally decided it was time to get Jack's hair cut.  I know this certificate says it is his first haircut but I am classifying it as his first real haircut.  The one I gave him was a desperate attempt to trim up his "wings" as I liked to call them!  He was born with a lot of hair on the sides of his head but not too much on top!  I never was all that happy with what I did to his hair but in my defense I just learned less than a year ago how to clip my husband's hair so, I don't really have too many skills in this department. ;-)

Seth took him to the place he used to go and the ladies just loved him!  He had many offers to trade their kids for Jack and that we could drop him off there any time we wanted to!

Yesterday, we all went and picked my Mom up at the airport.  She will be staying with us for a nice long visit and we are all so happy to have her here!  We have some crafts planned after she gets feeling better (she was fighting a cold before she came and I guess it won!).  Jack has been enjoying some undivided attention from his Gammy and investigating everything she brought with her.  :-)

I guess cutting his hair made him feel like a big kid too.  He has been taking more steps and has begun to walk holding on to just one hand.  He is getting closer!

He is getting so big!
