All little boys need tools (not plastic toys, but real tools). We used to get the boys each one new tool for Christmas and lots and lots of duct tape!! We also gave them each their own tool box. We used old recyled tackle boxes that Papa helped them clean up and repaint. They still have their toolboxes and tools and use them all the time on their jobs!!
The interest will last his whole life (one can only hope!)
